Business Intelligence Director

Job Summary:

The Business Intelligence Director is responsible for working with the cross-functional leadership team to translate business needs and requirements into automated insights, tools and reporting to inform effective decision making and strategies. Key responsibilities include developing analytical suites, tools and reports that identify clear business trends while delivering business insights to key stakeholders up and down the organizational value chain.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Elevate, simplify, and drive IRI/Nielsen data, reporting, and analytical capabilities
    • Track key revenue metrics to explain trends
    • Effectively monitor data and dashboards to ensure consistency of data and reporting quality
    • Develops, manages and updates the data models, including physical and logical models of the data warehouse, data mart and staging area and sometimes the operational data store and data source systems
    • Develops process for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data market place components
    • Ensures safeguarding the data model consistency, the data flows process structure and the data integrity
  • Streamline consistent ways of translating advanced business analytics into actionable strategies and insights cross-functionally
    • Track key revenue metrics to explain trends; proactively identify meaningful changes and delve deeper into underlying data to understand and communicate drivers to senior leadership.
    • Provides data architecture support and expertise to all major enterprise projects
    • Leverage Strategic BI & Analytics (SBA) plans to help Sales develop clear execution plans that can be leveraged in the customer community
  • Responsible for all ongoing research and 3rd party provider relationships (IRI, Nielsen)
    • Budget management
    • Manage relationship with 3rd party vendor
    • Driving projects migrating from one tool to another for cost reductions
    • Launching assortment/shelving/promotions models from monthly data in partnership with Director of Trade Planning
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to understand the business fundamental to help achieve overall business KPI’s and performance accelerators
    • Works with key business representatives to model the data needed for the respective domain.
    • Governs the data flow, model, and layering concept for their domain and ensure consistent and harmonized application
    • Provides data architecture support and expertise to all major enterprise projects
  • Ensure connectivity between reporting and business plan initiatives over a 1-5 year horizon
    • Help identify and utilize key industry reporting to ensure organization is utilizing best in class technologies
    • Depicts the data flow within and between systems in a particular functional area
    • Business Planning (IBP - Internal Planning)
    • Ensure compliance with BI systems and processes

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Intelligence or equivalent
  • Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred 


  • 7 plus years’ of business analytics experience:  Consumer Goods  experience with focus on Sales Analytics (IRI/Nielsen)/ Category Development, IT, Insights or Finance required
  • Solid with data in Microsoft Office and ability to translate it into simplified graphs
  • Experienced with data architecture for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Experience of modeling using high volume data from 3rd party data providers (SAP, Nielsen and/or IRI, and/or other master data warehousing systems)
  • Knowledge of BI systems (e.g. data visualization) and cloud computing an advantage


  • Ability to build advanced analytical and reporting capabilities by utilizing macros, coding, and any other advanced technical processes
  • Solid understanding of cross-functional business related interactions, with primary focus in CPG or FMCG
  • Clear understanding of data flow and information, with ability to identify clear areas of reporting and analytical needs to help accelerate performance throughout the value chain
  • Deep understanding of data within their domain (master data, data facts, KPI's, etc.) including Customers, Consumers, Brand, Categories, Products, Channels, Volume/Value, Market Share, Promotion, Modern Trade, E-Commerce, and Inventory, etc. and related business challenges
  • Strong relational and dimensional data modeling and information classification
  • Familiarity with MDM (master data management), business intelligence, and data warehouse
  • Deep knowledge in designing & developing data flows and enabling process chains
  • Collaborative and process driven,  ability to influence cross functional teams
