Job Summary:

As the Sr. Manager of Category Management for Materne North America based out of our office in New York, NY you will be responsible for developing the strategy and leading the execution of best in class category assortment and shelving that drives category household penetration and consumption while incrementally expanding the GoGo squeeZ retail presence.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Establish 2020+ future vision for the Fruit Squeezer Category and prospective Materne category expansion, leveraging best practices of MOM Group             
    • As part of the MNA 3-year Business Plan develop long term assortment and shelving road map
    • Provide category thought leadership to Field Sales Directors and retail customers for long term business planning
    • Collaborate with Director of Consumer and Market Intelligence to conduct foundational shopper research to identify optimal aisle and shelf placement
  • Develop and lead an MNA way of category management that identifies and delivers on category opportunities, driving mutual growth for retail partners and Materne North America
    • Leverage a diverse set of data sources to develop shopper insights and identify emerging market trends
    • Define category strategies by class of trade based on the roles defined within the Channel Path to Market Strategy
    • Identify the optimal tactics across assortment, space, location, POS and promotion in order to deliver against the opportunity identified within the category strategy
    • Present category management recommendations to key customers
    • Present, publish and update generic national category management recommendations for use by Field Sales and Sales Broker Agencies
    • Lead implementation of category management tactics, collaborating with Field Sales, Sales Agency Brokers, retail teams and third party vendors
    • Partner with Brand on SKU prioritization by class of trade; based on incrementality, sales rate, growth trends and profitability
    • Partner with Manager, In-Store Marketing & Activation to compliment best in class shelving with POS and display fixturing
    • Maintain library of best in class retail category execution to share with global organization
  • Strengthen Field Sales fact based selling by arming the organization with winning selling stories for new items distribution and GoGo squeeZ brand expansion into new channels and customers
    • Develop the GoGo squeeZ brand selling story and present to new prospective retail customers and board new retail Buyers
    • During annual sales planning process develop preliminary selling story and scout call presentations for innovation pipeline
    • During customer planning process develop innovation selling stories and present at retailer line reviews in order to gain incremental new item distribution
  • All other duties as assigned

CACV, share of shelf, household penetration, consumption per household

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and or Marketing
  • MBA is a plus


  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in the Consumer Goods / Food industry in category management and / or business development
  • Experience must include sales analytics, project management, negotiations, and working with retail partners


  • Ability to lead independently projects with minimal guidance
  • Ability to formulate retail go to market strategy
  • Strong leadership and proposals
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to take lead on vendor negotiation
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must be proficient in IRI scanner and panel data
  • Proactive, self-starter, excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and a proven ability to multi-task
  • Space planning a plus


  • Must be able to work in normal office conditions
  • Moderate travel 10+ times per year
